Intravital Microscopy Reveals Mechanisms of Lymphatic Function and Blood Vessel Anatomosis
(VTC)

Shan Liao, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Edwin L. Steele Laboratories
Department of Radiation Oncology
Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School
Boston, Massachusetts

To trigger an effective immune response, antigen and antigen-presenting cells travel to the lymph nodes via collecting lymphatic vessels. However, our understanding of the regulation of collecting lymphatic vessel function and lymph transport is limited. Dr. Liao will present her research on a novel mouse model that she has developed for intravital imaging of lymphatic vessel contraction. She uses this model to study lymphatic function in health and diseases.
