Monthly Meditation Group
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
A meditation group meets monthly at the Northern Virginia Center. Mindfulness meditation has been incorporated into the Marriage and Family Therapy program curriculum over the past several years and this monthly group serves as a place for students, faculty, and alumni to continue their practice and connect with each other.
Others in the Virginia Tech community who practice mindfulness or other contemplative practices -- and who would like to meet with others engaged in similar practice -- are invited to attend.
The group is oriented toward mindful meditation as a secular practice and therefore, is non-religious. It is open to people with all levels of meditation experience. However, there is no formal beginning instruction if you have never meditated before.
Each session includes a guided 30-minute sitting meditation followed by a discussion to share experiences.
