Retinoblastoma: Bridging Developmental Neurobiology and Cancer Genetics
(VTC)

Justina D. McEvoy, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Department of Developmental Neurobiology
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Memphis, Tennessee

Dr. McEvoy's characterization of the human retinoblastoma genome revealed epigenetic deregulation of multiple cancer and developmental pathways. This discovery led to the identification of novel therapeutic targets that were not previously considered for treating retinoblastoma. Dr. McEvoy's findings demonstrate that deregulation of epigenetic mechanisms in the developing retina contributes to retinoblastoma tumor progression.
