Harriet Tregoning Lecture -- Greening the Nation's Capital: The Promise and Potential of Sustainable DC Plan
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Harriet Tregoning, director of the District of Columbia Office of Planning, will discuss the Sustainable DC Plan and how her office, along with the District Department of the Enviornment and other partner agencies, plans to transform the District into a "more socially equitable, environmentally responsive, and economically prosperous community."
Tregoning will share her insights about the plan's sustainability principles and elements, the experience of engaging the public, and the District's thoughts on implementation of the plan across departments.
Prior to the lecture, from 6 to 6:30 p.m., prospective students are invited to join Virginia Tech Urban Affairs and Planning Program alumni for a networking reception.
This is the second in a series of Spring 2013 lectures sponsored by the Metropolitan Institute at Virginia Tech and the School of Public and International Affairs. More information...
