In An Uneven World: Globalization, Advocacy, and The Need For Legal Change For Women's Safety

Speaker: Dr. Shamita Das Dasgupta
Academic and activist against domestic violence in South Asian-American communities, and Co-founder of MANAVI, a South Asian Women's Organization
Dr. Dasgupta will address an expansion of violence against South Asian women in a globalized world of increased migration, where U.S.-based husbands abandon their wives in the home country, leaving these women without recourse to U.S. courts and laws.
Workshop: 4/5/12 at the Women's Center (Washington St.), at 2:00pm, with the VT Women's Center, and the Women's Resource Center, for a brainstorming session with Dr. Dasgupta to explore outreach initiatives for Asians on campus, and in the New River Valley.
