Cryo-Electron Microscopy Structures of Protein Folding Machines
(VTC)

Wah Chiu, PhD
Alvin Romansky Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Director, National Center for Macromolecular Imaging
Director, Center for Protein Folding Machinery
Co-Director, W. M. Keck Center for Computational Biology
Baylor College of Medicine
Houston, Texas

A seminar in the Research Institute Seminar Series

Chaperonins -- proteins that foster the correct folding of other proteins in the cell -- require hydrolysis of the coenzyme ATP, or adenosine triphosphate. Dr. Chiu will discuss how cryo-electron microscopy analysis reveals the structural alterations of chaperonin while it undergoes its biochemical reactions.
