TEDMED Live: Seeing with a Broader Lens
(VTC)

TEDMED is a multidisciplinary community of innovators and leaders who share a common determination to create a better future in health and medicine. This program features brilliant short talks and stunning artistic performances that celebrate the power of unexpected connections to create important new possibilities. Join the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute on April 16-19 as we live broadcast this year's TEDMED program in our third-floor conference center.

Speakers for this session include:

Harvey Fineberg
Taking a closer look at longer views, Harvey Fineberg, president of the Institute of Medicine, talks with America Bracho about trajectories in U.S. health care.

America Bracho
Leading infectious disease physician America Bracho addresses health disparities from the top down and the bottom up with her community promotores.

Rafael Yuste
Rafael Yuste's ideas on tracking neural activity helped spark President Obama's Brain Mapping Initiative. He'll tell us what this venture will mean to neuroscience.

John Maeda
Rhode Island School of Design President John Maeda will show how design and technology can bring clarity and understanding to medicine.

Danny Hillis
Inventor of parallel computing and former Disney Imagineer Danny Hillis will guide us through his many journeys of extraordinary thinking.
