With the call by the National Institutes of Health for a focus on personalized medicine, the identification of variables that impact treatment response is crucial to gain
better insight for whom, and under what circumstances, treatment will be most beneficial. In addition,
identifying mediators of treatment success is vital for improving intervention efficacy. The presentation will discuss the findings of psychological and physiological
moderators and mediators of biobehavioral and cognitive treatments for panic disorder. Rigorous methodologies and novel ways for identifying important variables between and across treatment modalities will be presented, which
can assist in the development of treatment recommendations and guidelines.
