A seminar in the Research Institute Seminar Series
Capsids are protein shells that serve to protect viral genomes in transit from cell to cell. In some cases, however, they are also compartments that house specific biosynthetic activities. This additional functionality places additional constraints on their molecular architecture. This talk will discuss several such systems, as studied by cryo-electron microscopy and other approaches.
