Musica Viva presents: Some Enchanted Evening
(Music/Theatre/Dance)

This program was chosen to to feature the lyrical, romantic and expressive character of the Voice, the String instruments and the Piano. We have works for voice and piano, string quartets, vocal duets, and works for voice and strings. All are expressive, warm, brilliant, and quite popular. A very interesting part of the concert are 2 of Dvorak's Cypresses which he wrote as songs for a young actress that he admired. He was rejected by the lady and the songs were shelved until 20 years later, when he arranged them for a string quartet. We will play each song followed by the quartet arrangement. Also on the program will be music by Schubert, Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, and more
Soprano Ariana Wyatt, a frequent performer on this series, and guest Soprano Youngmi Kim from Radford University, will be the featured singers, joined by guests Alex Link, violin, from Philadelphia, and Victoria Chiang, viola, from Peabody, Baltimore, together with members of the Avanti Ensemble: Benjamin Wyatt, cello, Teresa Ehrlich, Piano, and David Ehrlich, violin
