Science, Technology & Policy Leadership Series: Sokwoo Rhee
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)
Sokwoo Rhee, assoicate director of the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will present "Internet of Things and Smart Cities: Global City Teams Challenge." This is the last lecture in the 2015-2016 National Capital Region Science, Technology & Policy Leadership Series.
Rhee is responsible for Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities strategy and standard/technology development at NIS and is leading the Global City Teams Challenge that aims to create a replicable and scalable model for collaborative incubations and deployments of IoT and CPS solutions to improve the quality of life in Smart Cities around the world.
In his talk, Rhee will discuss how the convergence of networking and information technology with engineering physical systems is creating a new generation of systems that integrate distributed networks or sensors, controls, and processors. IoT and CPS are on the cusp of unleashing an extraordinary cycle of innovation through smart systems in areas such as manufacturing, transportation, utility infrastructures, and buildings, including home appliances and remote sensors.
