Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year big band style with soulful performances of holiday favorites by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The orchestra will perform brand new arrangements of songs both sacred and secular, from Billie Holiday's I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm to favorites like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, along with classic selections heard on Blue Engine Records' Big Band Holidays album. This holiday performance features special guest vocalist Catherine Russell, who will personally choose some of her favorite holiday tunes. The latest generation in a family of jazz royalty, Russell possesses a transcendent voice and uplifting spirit. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, featuring 15 of jazz music's leading soloists, has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras. The ensemble is led by musical director Wynton Marsalis, who has recorded more than 70 jazz and classical albums, earning him nine Grammy Awards. In 1983, he became the first and only artist to win both classical and jazz Grammys in the same year.
