Vinodh Venkatesh: "Adding the L to LGBTQ: Reflections on Same-Sex Desire in the Latin American Screen".

This paper traces the representation of lesbian desire and identities in Latin American cinema. After reflecting on local theorizations of lesbianism across Spanish-speaking America, I examine how a series of directors have attempted to broach this topic in films from the 70s to the present day, focusing on the narrative tropes they develop and their techniques of representation.
