ICAT Community Playdate: Space Echoes
(Research)
Each Friday, the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology convenes for a weekly playdate. During this hour, an ICAT sponsored project is presented. Join faculty, staff, and students from around campus to learn about ICAT research and events.
This playdate features a fully immersive experience that is a collaboration of Eric Lyon, Associate Professor of Practice in Music, and Thomas Tucker, Associate Professor for the School of Visual Arts. It will showcase an array of technologies available in the Cube. 3D animations and 3D sound compositions will be presented in unison to create a sensation of other wordly experiences. The visual components of the animations will be projected onto the Cyclorama, a cylindrical screen that is 16 feet tall by 40 feet wide. Audience members will wear 3D glasses while listening to 3D musical compositions relayed from an array of 148 speakers, collectively creating a new kind of visual and auditory encounter.
