(Movie/Film)
Join us for a film screening on Monday,November 28 at 6:30 PM to raise money for a sustainable agriculture project in Fondwa, Haiti that was started by a Virginia Tech student.
Suggested Donation: $5
We will be screening the documentary, Father Joseph. Father Joseph is a community member and philanthropist in the town of Fondwa, Haiti. This film tracks his endeavors to improve literacy and education in his hometown, while shedding light on the political climate of Haiti.
Junior Beauvais attended the University of Fondwa, founded by Father Joseph, and now studies at Virginia Tech. We will be raising money for his Haitian Heirloom Seed Bank that works to restore native seeds with greater yields and nutrition than those replaced by genetically modified seeds introduced by nonprofits in the 1980s. Additionally, a portion of proceeds will go to support the University of Fondwa in Haiti.
His project has received numerous recognitions, including a feature by VT News. Beauvais also received a grant for the seed bank from Barilla after winning first place and presenting in Italy.
