Data Rescue Information and Nomination
(Special Event)
Data rescue events aim to begin conversations and take actions around "identifying, assessing, prioritizing, securing, and distributing reliable copies of federal climate and environmental data so that it remains available to researchers. Data collected as part of the #DataRefuge initiative will be stored in multiple, trusted locations to help ensure continued accessibility."
This event will gauge interest in data rescue at Virginia Tech. At the event, interested parties (potentially researchers, technology professionals, digital archivists, and concerned community members) can nominate federal climate/environmental datasets they care about, then talk about what actions can be taken to maintain access to this data.
This event will hopefully lead to the planning of a follow-up event online to complete data copying and archiving work, both for identified datasets as well as others identified by other DataRefuge groups. More information...
