The oil and mixed media paintings in Michael Farrar's exhibit "Travelers and Other Nurds" include invented characters that are curious and memorable...even if what they are doing isn't immediately apparent. Farrar's titles lead you a little bit further into his alternative reality where life is explored through the foibles, missteps, and clever irony of the characters he paints.

A Virginia native and recipient of multiple awards for his paintings, Farrar now works out of his studio in eastern Tennessee.
