(Academic)

The History Department will host Dr. Kate Luongo (Northeastern University) for a talk titled "Asylum for Witches? Culture-Based Claims to Refugee Protection." Drawing on her book manuscript, Dr. Luongo will explore how immigration officers and scholars have understood and negotiated claims by accused witches to be members of persecuted social group, and thus eligible for asylum.
