Patronage in Brazil: the native critique
(Academic)

Please join us for a talk by Dr. Maya Mayblin (Univ of Edinburgh, UK).

ALL ARE WELCOME

In this talk, Dr. Mayblin will move away from the tradition of emplacing patronage, in order to look at native critiques. Based on research in NE Brazil, she will draw particular attention to tropes of claustrophobia, suffocation, & vice. What do these critiques tell us of actual lived experience of politics? And how might this help us imagine alternative political worlds?
