Info session for Indonesia + Cambodia service immersion trip
(Service)

Come learn all the details about the trip to Indonesia and Cambodia from our student and faculty leaders, and get your questions answered. Applications are due December 1.

About the trip: VT Engage's program to Indonesia and Cambodia will focus on community and economic development projects in two very different areas of Indonesia and Cambodia. We will spend eight days in Indonesia, including partnering with Universitas Jember in ongoing projects related to village infrastructure development. We will then travel to Siem Reap in Cambodia, where we will work with OSMOSE, a conservation-focused NGO, on economic development and sustainable ecotourism in the floating village of Prek Toal.

This trip will explore intersections between environmental conservation, human rights, urbanism, and global political economies. Service projects may include work to bridge the digital divide in Indonesia and construction of a floating garden to support local entrepreneurship. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to learn about language and culture in partnerships with faculty and students from local universities in both countries. The trip will include homestays with local families, visits to significant cultural and historical sites, and critical dialogue about the complexity of development in international contexts.

If you are an individual with a disability and desire an accommodation, please contact Eliza Wethey during regular business hours prior to the info session.
