Campbell County Cattlemen's Association Farm Bus Tour
(Special Event)
The CCCA Bus Trip to Lancaster County, PA, is now accepting reservations.
The trip will depart Rustburg on Wednesday, November 7, at 7:30 a.m. and will return on the evening of Friday, November 9.
On Wednesday, we will stop in Shenandoah County to visit a Virginia Tech Demonstration Farm and have lunch at Winchester. Wednesday afternoon we will make a farm visit in western Lancaster County and have dinner at the Shady Maple Buffet ("Largest Buffet in the USA") in East Earl, PA.
Our motel both nights will be the Comfort Inn in Denver, PA.
Thursday will include eight farm visits, including visits to farms with a harness-racing training track, a 60-cow robotic dairy, a fabric shop, and a machine shop that manufactures conveyor systems for steer feeding barns. On Thursday evening, we will have a family-style meal at the Plain and Fancy Restaurant (gift shop).
Our farm visits will include farms where Campbell County cattle are being fed, large feeders, small feeders, horse and buggy Mennonite feeders, natural feeders, an order buyer, and a Holstein feeder. Friday morning after breakfast, we will tour the New Holland Plant and on our way home have lunch at Roseda Angus Farm in Monkton, MD. Roseda's business includes every aspect of the beef industry, from producing registered bulls to selling branded beef retail. We also intend to visit two or three farmers' markets in Lancaster County.
Please park your vehicle in the lot across from the old courthouse.
Cost includes bus fare, lodging, two huge suppers, one lunch, and two hot breakfasts. Your out-of-pocket costs will be two lunches (Golden Corral and a sandwich shop), plus supper on Friday evening (either fast food, buffet, or cafeteria):
