Art Exhibit: Walt Hewes: 40 Years in Pastel, Pencil and Watercolor
(Arts)
Walt Hewes is a preeminent artist who draws and paints vistas and abandoned places "en plein air," a French term meaning "outside." A versatile and talented artist, this longtime resident of Giles County, Virginia studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art. During his student-life, Walt oten took part in conversations with Andrew Wyeth, one of America's best-known 20th century landscape painters. Walt's realistic drawings and paintings lead the viewer down long, lonely backroads and capture the magic, mystery, and melancholy of places and people we may have missed along the way.
Virginia Tech alumnus, Robert Miller with daughter Pippi Miller, a graduate of Hollins University, curated the exhibit. Robert is founder of Miller off Main Street Galleries in Blacksburg, VA.
Gallery is open Monday evening 6 - 9 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 - 5 p.m. More information...
