Boren Awards brown bag lunch for faculty
(Academic)
The Global Education Office is pleased to announce that a Boren Awards representative is coming to Virginia Tech for a day-long campus visit! There will be separate sessions for faculty and students. In addition, Michael Saffle, the Boren Awards Program Specialist, is available for short (5 - 10 minute) classroom presentations. Faculty can reach out to Michael (msaffle@iie.org) if they wish to schedule a presentation.
Boren Awards, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for US students to study a wide range of critical languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, and Swahili. Ranging from novice to superior, all Boren awardees are committed to learning languages and increasing their proficiency. Boren scholars and fellows study in world areas underrepresented in study abroad, and graduate with expertise in their chosen fields of study, language, and the cultures of Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Awards are available for undergraduate and graduate students. More information...
