  Megaregions: Planning for the Future
(Greater Washington DC Metro Area)

James Garland, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Team Leader for Transportation Planning Capacity Building Program, will join us for the next Science, Technology, Innovation and Policy (STIP) Leadership Series lecture.

While Megaregions can be delineated and structured in different ways, the FHWA has preliminarily identified 13 Megaregions and National Economic Partnership opportunities in the U.S. based on feedback from State Departments of Transportation and Metropolitan Organizations as well as patterns of connectivity in oassenger travel, freight movement, and infrastructure. To date, Megaregions generate the vast majority of the Nation's GDP and will soon contain more than two-thirds of the Nation's population.
