  Dairy: Managing $ Risk
(Seminar/Conference)

Dairy farms across the country have struggled with low milk prices, negative cash flow and reductions in equity positions over the last 3 years. Cost of production varies significantly from operation to operation throughout the nation, and for many who have weathered the slim to negative margins they have experienced since 2015, decisions to exit have been less a choice and more of a forced option. This project will focus on helping dairy producers and service providers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia better understand the dairy risk management strategies and tools available to mitigate marketing and financial risks through a series of 2 regional workshops and 12 monthly webinars. The two regional workshops have been scheduled for May 29, 2019 (Roanoke, VA) and May 30, 2019 (Belmont, NC). The programs will run from 10am - 2pm with registration open at 9:30am at each location.

If you are a dairy producer interested in learning more about dairy risk management policy options available to you, as well as risk management strategies for commodities inputs and marketing milk, please plan to attend one of the workshops. The main speaker at the workshops is Sara Dorland, Managing Partner of Ceres Dairy Risk Management, LLC. Sara is part of the Daily Dairy Report staff and specializes in interpreting dairy market data so that farmers understand what's important and why.
