A Walk in the Woods: Exploring Native American Foods
(Seminar/Conference)

ave you ever wondered what the First People of Virginia ate before agriculture came to this part of the world? There's always been more to eat in the Mid-Atlantic than just corn, beans, and squash - and local author & survival instructor Tim MacWelch will show you some of his favorite wild native foods. The autumn woods can provide us with more than just twigs and berries. This guided walk will introduce you to some of the most calorie dense and nutritious foods that can be found in the wild. Learn about the edible leaves, roots, seeds and nuts that fed our ancestors - and can still feed us today!

Location: Whitney State Forest, Lees Ridge Road, Warrenton.
