Musica Viva Presents:
(Music/Theatre/Dance)
"Musical Expressions from the Romantic Era" is the title of the second concert of the season. This performance is dedicated to great works from the Romantic Era, the period of the most beloved composers. The Avanti Ensemble (David Ehrlich, violin; Benjamin Wyatt, cello; Teresa Ehrlich, piano) will be joined by a very special guest, violinist Sibbi Bernhardsson, who appeared here in the past as a member of the very succewssful string quartet: Pacifica. Sibbi also appeared here as a performer with Musica Viva and was very well liked. Currently, Sibbi is a violin faculty member of Oberlin Conservatory, and he will open the program with Antonin Dvorak's great Four Romantic Pieces for violin and piano. These are four short pieces, each of them has its own character. The program continues with Dvorak's most famous piano trio, the "Dumky". No composer wrote such special Dumky as Dvorak. This is a collection of 6 short ones, and they are Elegies contrasted by happy moments. The second half will consist of Robert Schumann's great piano quartet, and Sibbi will be performing the viola part.
