T101 Workshop Theatre: 'Macbeth, the Murderer'
(Music/Theatre/Dance)
"Macbeth, the Murderer" revives the grand tragedy of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" by repeating familiar lines/themes with adapted context, uncovering the societal and psychological pressures Black men face that might motivate them to murder. Inspired by Richard Wright's "Native Son," music and references reminiscent of civil rights and Black arts movements across location and time period will underscore the story of Bigger-Macbeth, a repressed and misunderstood old soul.
"Macbeth, the Murderer" is a devised play conceived by Devair Jeffries, Talisha Mack, and Rodney McKeithan, presented as a part of the T101 Workshop Series.
