Interested in a career as a filmmaker? Q&A with VT Alum and LA Filmmaker Preston Peterson
(Movie/Film)

VT alum Preston Peterson will give a short talk and do a Q&A session on what to expect in pursuing a career as an independent filmmaker. His experience is relevant to cinema production and theatre students alike (including actors!)

Preston's Bio:
After studying film at VA Tech, Preston moved to Los Angeles to pursue filmmaking. In 2011, he co-produced the award-winning short film, God & Vodka, before teaming up with his lifelong friend, Jason Boesch to form Smoking Bear Pictures. Smoking Bear Pictures' first short film project, Lifi, won awards for acting & screenwriting and served as the duo's co-writing & directing debut. Next, they wrote and directed their first feature, West Virginia, which won Best Narrative Feature at Film Invasion Los Angeles, Hollywood Firstglance, South Dakota FF & IndieBelgrade FF, and is currently distributed on multiple VOD platforms and SVOD services, including Amazon Prime.
