This workshop will cover all aspects of public engagement; from its value, to the speed with which people must move to hit news cycles, to the nuts and bolts of op-ed writing, to doing radio and television, and to the advantage of this sort of work for one's university and one's own tenure case.

This is open to faculty, librarians, and graduate students at Virginia Tech.

Topics to be covered:
-Types of public engagement
-Timing issues related to news cycles
-Guidelines on op-ed writing
-Radio, television, and other legacy media platforms
-Social media
-Benefits to the university
-Scholarly reputation
