Corps of Cadets to observe 9/11 anniversary
(Corps)
In honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and to recognize veterans and local first responders, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will hold a moment of silence as part of a formal retreat ceremony at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, on Upper Quad.
The public is invited to the event, part of the Corps Reunion weekend.
During the formal retreat, the regiment will be formed between Lane, Pearson East, and Pearson West halls. Local first responders will take a position of honor near the flagpole.
After the moment of silence, the Color Guard will lower the flag at the Highty-Tighties perform the national anthem. Skipper, the corps' cannon, will fire once.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Those not in uniform should remove their hats and place their right hand over heart anytime the flag is raised or lowered or the National Anthem is played.
