  Community Engagement, Social Media, and Public Discussion: A Workshop on Writing Essays for Made by History  
(Academic)

This workshop will address challenges and opportunities associated with writing essays for the Made by History section of the Washington Post, including engaging with community groups, the promise and peril of social media, and the challenges of addressing topics related to race, ethnicity, and identity. The workshop will be led by Made by History co-editors Carly Goodman and Julio Capo, Jr. Participation is open to faculty and graduate students at Virginia Tech. The session will be virtual only.
