UN Youth Forum 2022: New Technologies in a World of Conflict
(Special Event)
Recognizing the immediate need to understand, navigate and manage the role and implications of "newer" technologies in a world of military conflict, this student-led event will focus on the UN Youth Forum priority of providing "education youth want and need" (Sustainable Development Goal 4) and highlight the power of open-source intelligence and social media in experiencing (as learning) conflict. The program features guest speaker Moe Davis, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, former Federal Chief Prosecutor of Guantanamo Military Commissions, and former Administrative Law Judge, followed by a series of presentations by students in Dr. Ameena Zia's course "Topics in Global Public Policies." Grounded in a solutions-approach to partnership, this is an official side event of the Economic and Social Council Youth Forum: "COVID-19 recovery: Youth Taking Action for a Sustainable Future."
This event is made possible by AIM Education Society (in consultative status w/ ECOSOC), Blue Ridge Impact Consulting, the United Nations ECOSOC Youth Forum 2022, and the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (Global Initiatives and Engagement and the Department of Political Science).
