VT Humanities Week: Is Technology Value-Laden?
(Special Event)

Joseph Pitt, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Philosophy, will speak about whether technology is value laden by examining some of the pros and cons, and then suggesting a third option. It is people who have values which are seen in terms of the actions people undertake. This then raises the issue of, which values should people act upon. Pitts answer is that individuals need to engage others to bring about a world which exhibits their common vision and this is what the humanities force us to face.
