  Dr. Tiffany King, University of Virginia, "Black and Indigenous Feminist Relations after the Disciplinary Turn  
(Special Event)

Dr. Tiffany King will speak on abolitionist and decolonial traditions with black studies and native/indigenous studies, exploring the impacts of enslavement and settler colonialism on peoples of color-both historically and in the present day.

Tiffany King is currently the Barbara and John Glynn Research Associate Professor of Democracy and Equity at the University of Virginia. She is faculty in the Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. King is the author of The Black Shoals: Offshore Formations of Black and Native Studies which won the Lora Romero First Book prize and is a co-editor of the collection Otherwise Worlds: Against Settler Colonialism and Anti Blackness. King is also a co-director at the Black & Indigenous Feminist Futures Institute, a project funded by the Mellon Foundation. King's research and programmatic work focuses on strengthening existing Black and Native relations and creating new possibilities for collaboration. She is currently working on a book project that attunes its senses to Black and Indigenous feminist and queer intimacies.
