Our first annual celebration of Title IX hosted here at Virginia Tech will be brought to the Hokie community by the students and instructor of the Sports Media and Gender course hosted by the School of Communication.

The class that was created, curated, and taught by Professor Megan Duncan is focused on deeply diving into the history of Title IX in sports as a whole and also at Virginia Tech. Throughout our studies, we have learned about the foundations and history of this landmark legislation and how it applies to collegiate and professional sports today.

The event we are hosting is a testament to Title IX impact on our sporting community, and our speakers will provide a holistic analysis of how far progress in the field has come. Additionally, student journalism regarding pertinent coverage of womens athletics in Blacksburg will be showcased for all to see, helping to spread awareness and highlight the hard work of our team.
