Film Screening and Discussion with the Director: King Coal (2023)

The Lyric Theatre will screen the critically acclaimed documentary King Coal on Thursday, September 21 at 7pm. King Coal explores the ways coal and the coal industry are salient in everyday life in Appalachia. The film premiered at Sundance 2023 and has been screened at 14 festivals in the US and Canada and has received positive reviews from outlets such as IndieWire, Film Daze, and The Wall Street Journal. This is a one-time showing, and admission is free! Stick around after the show for a discussion with director Elaine McMillion Sheldon! This event is sponsored by the Appalachian Studies Program, The Moss Arts Center, and VT's History, Sociology, and Religion & Culture departments.
